What Are the Best Hidden Features of the New Subaru Forester

Subaru recently revealed the all-new 2025 Forester, showing a vehicle with improved safety technology, fresh styling, and the latest infotainment features. Though it shares some elements with its predecessor, the new Forester features completely redesigned bodywork and several other upgrades worth a deeper dive. Let’s take a look.

New Design

The 2025 Forester still sports the boxy, upright look of previous models, but the updated front-end design offers LED headlights and Subaru’s new star logo. It got beefier wheel arches for a more muscular look, and the automaker increased the rear window angle to create more cargo space. Aerodynamics also got a boost with new air outlets, and Subaru said the bodywork helps reduce lift and improve driving stability.

Inside, there’s a new infotainment system and a redesigned dash. The updated materials and dark headliner help hide dirt and damage, and the cabin’s shape improves outward visibility in all directions. All models also come with dark-tinted rear privacy glass.

Improved Safety

All 2025 Foresters get Subaru’s latest EyeSight Driver Assist Technology. The system brings cyclist and pedestrian detection, lane keep assist, lane departure alerts, and more. Subaru also offers blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts. A new standard Emergency Stop Assist system detects if the driver becomes unresponsive to vehicle warnings while using adaptive cruise control and can stop the vehicle while activating the hazard lights and unlocking the doors.

Updated Infotainment System 

Subaru is offering its 11.6-inch Starlink Multimedia Plus system for the first time in the new Forester. It brings wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ with full-screen displays and houses all vehicle controls, including climate and activating the automatic start-stop system. Higher trims add navigation with voice activation and SiriusXM Travel Link with a three-year free trial. The standard system includes two seven-inch touchscreens, with the top display handling audio controls and the lower screen housing climate and vehicle settings.

Powertrain Setup

The 2025 Forester carries a familiar Subaru engine: A 2.5-liter Boxer four-cylinder making 180 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque. While it’s slightly down on power compared to its predecessor, the new engine pairs with a continuously variable transmission and all-wheel drive with active torque vectoring and selectable driving modes. Subaru also employed the WRX’s dual-pinion electronic power steering rack, giving the vehicle a better steering feel and more responsive handling.

While 17-inch wheels come standard, the Limited trim adds 18-inch wheels, and the Sport and Touring trims step up to 19-inch rollers. Premium, Sport, Limited, and Touring models also get a manual-shift mode with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters, which gives the feel of shifting through eight gears.
