Subaru Shares The Love For Earth

Subaru is committed to protecting our environment through their initiative Subaru Loves the Earth by reducing environmental waste, preserving natural resources and protecting national parks. They encourage their retailers and customers to join them in their efforts to minimize environmental harm caused by excessive energy consumption, pollution and unawareness.

Subaru has partnered with five organizations to share their earthly love: National Park Foundation, Terracycle, Leave No Trace, National Parks Conservation Association and National Forest Foundation. “At Subaru, we feel it’s our personal responsibility to protect Earth’s natural wonders and encourage our retailers and customers to engage in smart environmental practices, simply because it’s the right thing to do,” said Subaru of America, Inc.’s President and CEO Tom Doll. Their efforts to date have been made known through their generous contributions to these organizations making an impact in the areas of preservation, recycling, environmental training, and landfills, national parks and wildlife protection.

Subaru is the National Park Foundation’s largest corporate donor to date. Since 2014, they’ve aided in safeguarding more than 400 national parks through their Don’t Feed the Landfills Zero-Landfill initiative. They’ve eliminated over 17 million pounds of waste from landfills, saved almost $12 million, and provided more than $63 million to national park organizations. Additionally, they’ve traveled all over the U.S. to educate about the importance of saving our planet.

Subaru partnered with TerraCycle® to recycle hard-to-recycle trash, such as disposable cups, lids and straws by placing Zero Waste Boxes™ in all participating Subaru stores. Trash is transformed into practical goods like park benches, bike racks, picnic tables and flowerpots, all which benefit local communities. Through Subaru’s Park Garden for Good, over 70 volunteers grow organic produce for local food pantries in Pennsylvania. In 2021 alone, nearly 2,000 pounds of fresh produce was produced for local food banks.

Subaru has certified more than a third of Subaru retailers as Eco-Friendly by having them meet five essential requirements: energy efficiency, water conservation, recycling, waste management, and environmentally focused community involvement. They plan to further their impact by promoting outdoor programs to increase national park awareness and visitation, advance park technology by incorporating Subaru electric vehicles in national parks and provide additional funding to increase the expansion of recycling and waste reduction. Moreover, they will continue to work towards manufacturing all Subaru Gear entirely at a zero-waste-to-landfill facility and reduce carbon emissions from production by making 100 percent recycled apparel, packaging in recycled boxes, and using 100 percent renewable energy.

As part of Subaru’s efforts to be more environmentally friendly, they’ve produced their first fully electric vehicle in 2021, the Subaru Solterra, an SUV with new zero-emissions technology and industry-leading safety. Their objective is to 100 percent electrify its vehicles by 2035.
