New Subaru Debuts At LA Auto Show

At the 2023 LA Auto Show, Subaru debuted the all-new, sixth generation 2025 Forester. This new SUV promises to be the best generation yet while maintaining its usable and cost-efficient roots that make the Forester beloved by customers and enthusiasts alike. 

Trim Levels

The sixth generation Forester will be available in Base, Premium, Sport, Limited, and Touring trim levels and will be at dealers across the country starting in spring of 2024. 

Subaru AWD

Starting in 1996, all Subaru models have had Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive as standard, save for the BRZ. The Forester made its first-ever appearance at the Tokyo Motor Show in 1995 with AWD. It later came to America in 1997 as a 1998 model and wowed prospective-buyers with its genuine hybrid personality of usefulness for everyday plus off-road prowess. The new Forester has 8.7 inches of ground clearance, yet never makes customers feel like they have to find a way to get into the vehicle because it sits so high. 

Engine

The 2025 Forester gets its power from the classic 2.5-liter Subaru Boxer® engine that produces 180 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque. Power is put to the wheels through a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). 

Style and Manufacturing

Even though it is an all-new design, the Forester is still familiar yet sleek and contemporary, with its new grille that flows into the new LED headlights. Subaru says they’ve added specific aerodynamic changes to aid in the overall drivability of the new SUV with an air outlet behind the front wheel in the wheel well cladding to allow air to exit from the wheel well more easily which will reduce lift and improve grip and stability. For this new Forester, Subaru says it has increased torsional rigidity by 10%. New inner frame construction with better, stronger welds and more structural adhesives allows for superior body and frame rigidity while still being less weight overall. 

Safety Features

The award-winning EyeSight Driver Assist Technology will be standard on all models and has been upgraded. The system has been improved and adds an electric brake booster to aid the stopping force of the vehicle when the car has to assist the driver in braking. EyeSight is able to accurately identify cyclists and pedestrians sooner when driving through intersections. The system will first alert the driver and then apply the brakes if the driver does not respond. The Forester will also have Reverse Automatic Braking as well as Blind-Spot Detection with Lane Change Assist and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert.

Emergency Stop Assist will be featured as a first on the 2025 Subaru Forester. The system automatically turns on if the driver becomes unresponsive to warnings when driving with the Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control. This safety feature, which will be standard, will bring the vehicle to a complete stop and immediately engage the hazard lights and unlock all of the doors, and Subaru STARLINK® Connected Services will then call emergency services and give them the exact location of the vehicle. 

DriverFocus® Distraction Mitigation System works with all of the other amazing safety features. It is standard on the Touring trim and up. This safety feature uses a camera that is pointed at the driver to read their face to monitor fatigue and lack of focus when driving. 

Since 2007, the Subaru Forester has been awarded the coveted Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), meaning for 17 consecutive years the Forester has been one of the safest vehicles on the market. Standard on Premium trim models is X-MODE with Hill Descent Control. This system allows the driver to select from multiple different types of surfaces the vehicle is being driven on to maximize grip and drivability. Sport and higher trims will get dual-function X-MODE that adds extra functionality and modes. 

Infotainment

The 2025 Forester will feature a 7-inch multimedia touchscreen infotainment system as standard, with an 11.6-inch touchscreen is optional. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard with the 11.6-inch screen, while Apple CarPlay and Android Auto can be used with your phone’s cable for the standard 7-inch screen. 

Pricing

No pricing has been announced yet, but Subaru says it will be revealed closer to the date when customers start seeing them on dealer lots.
