Can You Get a Bulletproof Subaru?

When you’ve been in the auto industry as long as we have here at Subaru of Rochester, you see people do some pretty wild things to their cars. This can be especially true with a brand that has a following as loyal as Subaru does.

One thing we don’t see is people putting the time, effort and money into making their Subaru models bulletproof. But, if you wanted a bulletproof Subaru, could you get one? Well, apparently the answer is “yes.”

That said, to our knowledge, there is no way to get a bulletproof Subaru from the factory. Instead, we found one from a company called Armormax, which specializes in this area. The model we are referring to is a bulletproof Subaru Crosstrek.

Details On this Armored Subaru Crosstrek

According to the webpage, this armored Crosstrek comes equipped with armoring and bulletproof glass capable of stopping rounds from a .44 magnum or AR-15. The underside of the vehicle comes with its own protection, specifically bomb blast protection. Even the battery and fuel tank are armored. 

In addition, the company has also equipped the vehicles with run-flat tires, which allow you to operate on a flat for a period of time. And if that isn’t enough, you can also splurge on some optional equipment that includes gas masks, an external listening device and a smoke screen system. 

We didn’t realize there was a market for such a vehicle, but apparently, there is. We have to say, though, despite all of the added armor, the vehicle looks great. From the outside, you wouldn’t even be able to tell that the vehicle is any different than your typical Subaru Crosstrek.
