5 Things You Can Do Hands Free In Your Subaru

One of the best things about owning a modern car is how much you can do without having to take your hands off the wheel or eyes off the road. It obviously makes life much easier but also keeps people safer since they aren’t looking down at the radio as often, grabbing their phone to make a call, or even needing to find the knobs and buttons to change the air conditioning in the car. Subaru has always been committed to making its cars safer with both great engineering and state-of-the-art technology.
Helpful Tips from A Subaru Salesman
In a recent video, Subaru salesman Alex Prestigiacomo discusses five things he didn’t even know drivers could do completely hands-free in a Subaru. As a salesman, it was important for him to learn everything owners can do without searching for a button in their new car, and it was also kind of him to make a video teaching everyone about all the things they’re able to accomplish.
Climate Control
In order to control the climate in the vehicle without having to touch the infotainment display, owners can touch the voice control button on the left part of the steering wheel with the phone controls. When the vehicle prompts you with “Please say a command,” you can give specific commands such as increase or decrease temperature, or say you want a higher or lower fan speed, etc. When asking for a higher or lower temperature, the Subaru will automatically raise or lower the HVAC temperature by 4 degrees. Or you can tell the car to adjust the system to any temperature you prefer.
Heated/Ventilated Seats
A great luxury in any modern car is heated and ventilated seats. While heated seats are more common, a cooled seat is a fantastic option, especially in southern states during the summer with all the crazy humidity. Once again, by tapping the voice control button, you can say “heated seats on” or “cooled seats on.” You can also tell the car to turn them off or adjust the intensity level to low, medium, or high.
Auto Start/Stop
Interestingly, Alex showed how easy it is to turn off the auto start/stop function on the infotainment screen. You can also touch the voice control button and tell the car to enable or disable the feature while you are driving. You wouldn’t expect the car to allow something like that, but Subaru gives owners complete control.
Music
It should come as no shock that you can easily control your music settings using voice control. You can tell your Subaru to change the station, play a specific song, change the media from, say, SiriusXM to Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, or even Spotify, and much more. Even though this is a normal feature, it’s still brilliant not to have to play around with the touchscreen and instead make a quick command.
Navigation
Let’s say you are driving and get a phone call or a text from someone with an address where they want to meet. Well, tell the car to navigate to that location, or you can even say the name of the establishment to get directions without having to pull over and enter the address manually.
