Though the all-electric Solterra still feels pretty new to all of us at Subaru of Rochester, there are already significant changes for the 2024 model year. This includes faster charging, enhanced Subaru EyeSight® Driver Assist technologies, and other new features.

Enhanced Charging

Higher capacity charging of the lithium-ion battery means the Solterra can now charge from 10% to 80% in about 35 minutes with public Level 3 charging. When fully charging at home, an upgraded battery conditioning system enables the 2024 Solterra to charge significantly faster in colder temperatures than the previous model, in some cases up to 80 minutes faster than the previous model. Fully charged, a 2024 Solterra Premium has an estimated range of 228 miles.

All Solterra models continue to have standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive with two motors placed between the front and rear axles. This is combined with Subaru StarDrive® Technology, which controls power between the front and rear and keeps the motor output smooth and linear for a total of 249 pound-feet of torque.

Off-Road Ready

Every 2024 Solterra is equipped with the Dual-Function X-MODE® found on Outback Wilderness and other Wilderness models, which feature Snow/Dirt and Deep Snow/Mud modes.  Grip Control and Downhill Assist Control are also on hand for enhanced performance in low-grip and off-road conditions. 8.3 inches of ground clearance enables true off-road capability and is best in class among small electric SUVs. Also standard are roof rails with a dynamic load capacity of up to 176 pounds and a stationary load capacity of up to 700 pounds to enable a roof tent.

On-Road Stability

Standard Active Cornering Assist and Vehicle Stability Control provide enhanced on-pavement stability and handling. Also new for 2024 is an enhanced Subaru EyeSight® Advanced Driver-Assistance system. Hands-Free Driving enables Solterra to travel in its lane at speeds up to 25 mph with only driver supervision to ease stop-and-go traffic. The 2024 Solterra can now change lanes at speed on command with Active Lane Change Assist. Front Cross-Traffic Alert assists the driver when entering an intersection by alerting them to a potential collision. Additional EyeSight features include:

  • Blind Spot Monitors
  • Rear Camera Detection with Pedestrian Warning
  • Dynamic Radar Cruise Control with Lane Tracing
  • Road Sign Assist,
  • DriverFocus® Distraction Mitigation System

The 2023 Solterra earned a Top Safety Pick + designation from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, which is their highest rating, and the 2024 model, when tested, should be no different.

Available in Premium, Limited, and Touring trim levels, the 2024 Soterra retains its starting price of $44,995 MSRP, which does not include the available federal tax credit of up to $7,500 for qualified customers. The incentive to go EV is better than ever at Subaru of Rochester, so visit for a test drive and see if the Solterra can work for you.
