2024 Crosstrek Makes Debut at Chicago Auto Show

The 2024 Subaru CrossTrek made its debut at the Chicago Auto Show where it shared the stage with beautiful views of our National Parks as a backdrop and a gathering of rescue puppies available for adoption. The beauty and adorability of those distractions brought attention to Subaru Love Promise which has given millions of dollars to the National Park Foundation and the ASPCA.  These are two of four charities for whom you can choose for Subaru to make a donation when you purchase one of their products.  The other two are Meals on Wheels and the Make-a-Wish foundation.

Still, the 2024 Crosstrek was not to be upstaged. The 3rd generation Crosstrek continues to be based on the Impreza, with greater ground clearance and other off-pavement componentry. The Crosstrek continues its role as the smallest of Subaru’s trio of off-road capable machines, under the Forester and Outback.

Anticipated to arrive in our Rochester showroom in just a few months, the new Crosstrek adopts the current Subaru design language with a large hexagon grille, compact LED headlights, and prominent round fog lights. The design also features a broad-shouldered stance, bold fender cladding, and on Premium, Sport, and Limited trims, sturdy raised roof rails. Beneath the surface is a 10% stiffer body for improved ride & handling balance.

Both Engines Carryover

Both the base and Premium Crosstrek continue to be powered by a 152 hp 2.0-liter boxer 4-cylinder engine, while the Sport and Limited trims carry on with the same 2.5-liter 4-cyl. Boxer.  The bigger engine’s 182 horsepower is unchanged but the peak torque is up a notch at 178 lb-ft.  The CVT automatic transmission is on all models and there is no word yet on whether the hybrid model will continue.

Retaining many features, the new Crosstrek current model’s 8.7” ground clearance, hill start assist, and hill descent control, with now the Outback and Forester Wilderness models’ Dual-Function X-Mode off-road driving mode.  An added mode for Deep Snow/Mud Mode allows a small amount of wheel spin to help keep the Crosstrek from getting stuck in…well, deep snow or mud. Upgrading to either of the upper trims also advances the wheel size from 17 to 18 inches.

Better Seats, Bigger Screen

Crosstrek seating has been redesigned to create more support and have been brightened with color side bolsters on certain trims.  Featuring the Outback’s vertical 11.6-inch SUBARU STARLINK® multimedia system is now standard on the Premium, Sport, and Limited Trims, as is a wireless connection for both Apple Car Play and Android Auto. As the base model continues with dual 7-inch infotainment and climate screens and wired Apple CarPlay and Android.

Better EyeSight

Standard on all 2024 Crosstreks, is the latest version of Subaru’s award-winning EyeSight® Driver Assist system. Blind-Spot Detection, Lane Keep Assist, and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert are available on Premium, Sport, and Limited trims and they integrate with the new Automatic Emergency Steering feature, which adds steering assist if needed when sensors detect a possible collision at speeds below 50 mph.

Pricing Remains Steady

Crosstrek’s exterior dimensions are nearly unchanged. Compared to the Forester it is about half a foot shorter in length, though the wheelbase is nearly the same.  It is also shorter in overall height. Pricing has changed very little, though with the dropping of the manual transmission model, the starting MSRP is a little higher.  MSRPs for each model are as follows: 

• Base: $26,290
• Premium: $27,440
• Sport: $30,290
• Limited: $32,190
